There’s a new energy stirring in Old Town Napa these days, thanks in part to the blended efforts of Celeste Carducci-Ahnfeldt and her husband Bruce Ahnfeldt, owners of Ahnfeldt Wines, McClelland-Priest Bed & Breakfast Inn, and Uncorked at Oxbow.
Bruce came to the Napa Valley in the mid-1980s as an attorney and began growing grapes, which he sold to wineries for decades. Serendipitously, Celeste—who had experience in both the wine and the hospitality business—also moved to the Napa Valley in the mid-1980s, where she purchased a historic mansion in Old Town Napa and created the elegant six-room McClelland-Priest Bed and Breakfast Inn.
It wasn’t until the new millennium that Bruce launched Ahnfeldt Wines. He and Celeste became a couple in 2005, and they began exploring the potential of downtown Napa and the exciting ways they could blend wine and hospitality. Wanting to bring all these experiences under one roof, Bruce and Celeste purchased another historic building in downtown Napa and started Uncorked at Oxbow, a lively tasting room where guests can enjoy wine, music, food, and education. Uncorked has the only bonded barrel–tasting room downtown, and wine tourists and locals alike are excited about its many activities, including barrel tastings, blending seminars, food and wine pairings, and bi-monthly open mic sessions. What’s more, it features an exciting portfolio of Ahnfeldt Wines, and a new Napa/Italian Collection, the Carducci Wines—all crafted by winemaker Paul Hobbs and his expert team.
Between Ahnfeldt Wines (which routinely score 90 or more points with Wine Spectator and The Wine Enthusiast), McClelland-Priest Bed & Breakfast Inn (which offers elegant, Italian-inspired, spacious guest suites), and Uncorked at Oxbow (which brings energy to Napa’ s new downtown), the Ahnfeldts blended a stimulating Napa experience for wine tourists to enjoy.
